To celebrate the Lunar New Year, the Yilan County Government has launched the most festive “2011 Happy Yilan New Year Series of Events.” The event will take place at Zhongshan Park in Yilan City. In addition to the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on January 29, there will be a lively New Year’s Eve Party on New Year’s Eve, as well as a series of New Year events from the first to the second day of the Lunar New Year. There’s also the “GO Rabbit Yilan – Happiness Packed” lucky bag giveaway with great gifts inside.

Yilan boasts beautiful scenery and is a popular tourist destination.

The event specially invites the SIGMA group — composed of Wei Chou, Jie Yu Li, and Wei Zhe Lin — to serve as ambassadors, recommending to friends nationwide that the Yilan County Government has gathered local accommodation providers to participate. From January 28, those who book and actually stay at participating accommodations will have the chance to receive the County Government’s specially prepared “Yilan New Year Lucky Bag,” which is packed with rich offerings, including Year of the Rabbit commemorative red envelopes, a temple peaceful porridge guide map, the Yilan County Tourism Brochure – The Journey of Lan Yang, food and snack guides, a bicycle tour map, Green Expo promotional materials, a DVD of the 100 Scenic Spots of Lan Yang, and scratch-off lottery tickets (prizes include one of the following: 2011 International Children's Folklore and Folkgame Festival admission tickets, 2011 Yilan Green Expo admission tickets, Jioujiang Hot Spring Park hot spring entry tickets, Lanyang Museum admission tickets, Dongshan River water bus ride tickets, or a pair of Year of the Rabbit commemorative pencils). The lucky bags are available in limited quantities and will be given out until supplies last.

The bike trail at the Water Park is very popular.

Additionally, during the Spring Festival, the County Government has partnered with the Culture and Arts Center to offer an “Unlimited Access to Both Parks” package at the Water Park. Travelers coming from the Water Park to the Culture and Arts Center can enjoy either a discounted round-trip combo: a one-way boat ticket on the Dongshan River plus admission to the Culture and Arts Center (originally 200 TWD, now 150 TWD), or a parking voucher for the Dongshan River plus admission to the Culture and Arts Center (originally 200 TWD, now 170 TWD). From the first (2/3) to the fourth (2/6) day of the Lunar New Year, free shuttle buses between both parks will run from 10:00–20:00 every 30 minutes (route: departing from the Capital Bus stop at the central ticket entrance of the Culture and Arts Center along Provincial Highway 2, heading toward the Dongshan River Park, turning right onto Qinqian Road, approximately 4 kilometers).
