Next Monday is Valentine's Day, and as the holiday approaches, restaurants and businesses are rolling out sweet treats to attract customers. But for those without a partner, stepping out on February 14 can feel especially "painful." In that case, why not enjoy a "breakup cake," devour your heartache, turn your single luck around, and welcome new romance in the new year?

To cash in on Valentine's business, cake shops have been quick on the draw. Besides the usual romantic cakes, this year they’ve also created a “Unlucky in Love. Devil’s Black Diamond Cake” specially for singles, using bitter-sweet chocolate and bananas. Coated in rich 83% French estate chocolate sauce from Michel Cluizel, the filling features a bittersweet chocolate cake layered with fresh caramelized banana slices. The taste is intense—you can savor every bite of "love-struck" chocolate paired with the ambiguous tangy sweetness of banana. It’s perfect for treating yourself or giving as a gift, whether you’re dealing with heartbreak, emotional pain, wanting to end a relationship, or rejecting someone’s advances. Take this alternative expression of feelings home, leave the past behind, and get ready to meet the next right person.

Besides the special breakup cake, couples shouldn’t forget to express their love during the holiday. The “True Love Invincible. Angel’s Love Valentine’s Cake” is made with French fresh cream, Japanese Tokachi red beans, and fresh strawberries, creating a pink angel-winged red bean cake symbolizing the sweet longing of lovers and the romantic taste of strawberry love—perfect for a romantic Valentine’s Day. All three stores will begin taking orders starting February 7, 2011.
