Since its full opening in August 1996, the Shilin Official Residence has become one of the important leisure spots for Taipei residents on holidays and a key destination for visiting dignitaries from home and abroad. The garden also regularly hosts exhibitions of plum blossoms, orchids, and chrysanthemums each year, which have become highlights of the activities in the park. Because Madame Chiang Kai-shek had a particular fondness for roses, a 3,315-square-meter rose garden was established within the grounds. It currently cultivates over 200 varieties of roses, totaling more than 4,000 plants. The entire rose garden is rich in European-style garden charm, resembling a beautiful painting. Every year from March to May is the season when the roses in the residence are in full bloom. In conjunction with the Yangmingshan Flower Festival, the Shilin Official Residence Park has moved the rose season earlier, holding it from February 18 to February 27.

The focus of this year's Shilin Official Residence Rose Season exhibition includes varieties such as Mrs. B.R. Cant originating from the UK in 1901, Casino from 1963, Mutabilis from 1894, as well as Fragrant Lavender Simplicity from the USA in 2007, Rainbow Knock Out from 2007, Sunny Knock Out from 2008, and Carefree Wonder from France in 1990. All of these are being exhibited in the garden for the first time. Not only are they visually stunning, but they are also hardy, disease-resistant, and suitable for general cultivation in home gardens.
The official residence’s main building, reopened since 2011, is also a major attraction for visitors.

Business Hours: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily, extended to 7:00 PM on holidays. Open all year round. Admission is free.
Address: No. 60, Fulin Road, Shilin District, Taipei City
Transportation Information: Take the Tamsui Line of the MRT to Shilin Station (Exit 2), then walk for about 10 minutes. Alternatively, take bus routes 260, 285, 606, or 220 to the Taipower Northern Branch Office stop.
