With its captivating scenery and cultural charm, how do you remember Tamsui? Is it the century-old historic sites, the traditional snacks of the old street, or the romantic sunset over Tamsui? To celebrate the opening of the Art Workshop, the Tamsui Historic Sites Museum has specially launched the “Tamsui Kaleidoscope Call for Submissions,” inviting the public to document their own version of Tamsui. The submission period runs from now until March 31. Selected works will be compiled into a video and screened on rotation at the Art Workshop exhibition space starting in April, allowing the public to participate in the pulse and growth of the Art Workshop.

The Tamsui Art Workshop is located in the latter section of Tamsui Old Street and is a key development focus of New Taipei City Government’s plan to establish a Tamsui arts district. In addition to emphasizing the connection between people and the environment, the Tamsui Historic Sites Museum’s first special exhibition, “Art Tree Flourishing,” features a series of peripheral activities during the exhibition period that integrate art, life, and the environment. Among them, the “Tamsui Kaleidoscope Call for Submissions” aims to invite visitors and local residents to interact with Tamsui—a town rich in cultural and natural landscapes—and document the beautiful process, which will serve as nourishment for the continuous growth of the Art Workshop.

The “Tamsui Kaleidoscope Call for Submissions” primarily accepts submissions in the form of photos, videos, or paintings that reflect the essence of Tamsui. Through this event, the public can use photos or videos to document their own version of Tamsui and their relationship with the environment. It could be a street that local residents pass on their way to school, or the beautiful sunset scenery of Tamsui in the eyes of a visitor—any unique imprint of “Tamsui” in your heart can become a radiant scene in the kaleidoscope. Selected participants will receive a commemorative gift for the opening of the Tamsui Art Workshop. Additionally, their works will be compiled into a video and screened at the Art Workshop starting in April.
