As one of the world’s three major orchid exhibitions, the "Taiwan International Orchid Show," which began on March 5 at the Taiwan Orchid Plant Biotechnology Park, has consistently shattered weekend attendance records. Last Sunday, the number of visitors hit 35,000, exceeding the same period in previous years by over 6,000. At the exhibition, nearly every visitor was seen holding an orchid, while the business negotiation area also saw brisk trading. It is expected that this year’s export target of NT$7 billion could be surpassed.

The international orchid exhibition features four major themed pavilions: the Orchid Pavilion, the Blooming Competition Pavilion, the Elegance Pavilion, and the Dream Pavilion. The Orchid Pavilion showcases various themed landscapes, native Taiwanese orchids, competition flowers, and award-winning blooms. The Blooming Competition Pavilion displays new varieties, potted arrangements, medium-sized landscapes, and window floral art. The Elegance Pavilion includes an orchid sales area where visitors can also admire large-scale floral designs crafted by master florists. The Dream Pavilion takes visitors through the growth process of orchids, allowing them to experience the joy of cultivating these flowers. This year’s overall champion flower broke away from the traditional notion that "bigger is better," with the Phalaenopsis, commonly known as the Prince, taking the crown. Its four flower spikes bore 19 blossoms and were the most popular among attendees.

This edition of the orchid exhibition runs until March 14, with tickets priced at NT$150. During the exhibition period, visitors presenting receipts for high-speed rail, Taiwan Railways, public transport, the Flower Expo, or an EasyCard can purchase discounted tickets for NT$100. The first 300 visitors each day will also receive a complimentary tourist calendar. Shuttle bus services directly to the exhibition have been canceled this year. Visitors arriving from the Chiayi High-Speed Rail Station should first take a shuttle to the "Nanan Xiliao" stop, then walk to the 7-11 across the street and transfer to an interval shuttle bus to reach the orchid exhibition venue. Buses run daily from 7:10 AM to 11:40 PM, approximately every 30 minutes.
