The Maokong Gondola Kicks Off Summer Fun – Free Rides for Kids Under 12

The Maokong Gondola has just wrapped up an eight-day mid-year maintenance check and resumed operations at the end of June. Coinciding with the start of summer vacation for students, Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation has launched the “Three Cats Summer Fun” promotion from July 1 to August 31. All elementary school students nationwide aged 12 and under can present valid ID to ride the Maokong Gondola and visit the zoo for free. Accompanying adults can purchase the “Three Cats Summer Fun” joy ticket to enjoy a “buy one, get one free” deal for two riders. Everyone is welcome to join in the fun.

 

Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation stated that in accordance with the maintenance technical manual from the original French manufacturer POMA, the Maokong Gondola underwent an eight-day mid-year maintenance check from Monday, June 20 to Monday, June 27. Maintenance tasks included replacing the deflector sheave liners, conducting load tests, performing individual cabin inspections, inspecting tower cable sheaves, and replacing tires, belts, and horizontal cable sheaves at all stations. All maintenance work has been successfully completed.

 

Under the “Three Cats Summer Fun” promotion, all elementary school students nationwide aged 12 and under can present valid ID to ride the Maokong Gondola for free during the summer vacation (students from Taipei municipal elementary schools can tap their digital student IDs; those from other counties/cities can present their student ID or National Health Insurance card, among other valid IDs, to receive a same-day valid “free ride coupon” on-site), and also visit the zoo for free with valid ID. Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation and Taipei Zoo have jointly issued the “Three Cats Summer Fun” joy tickets, available for purchase at all Maokong Gondola stations and the zoo ticket windows. These tickets offer a “buy one, get one free” discount for full-price adult riders (limited to single-trip 50 NT$ tickets, not applicable to elementary school students or those using concessionary tickets).
