Explore the Inca civilization at this newly opened 2012 hotel in Cusco, Peru

Peru is home to many remnants of the ancient Inca civilization, and among its cities, Cusco is known as the "City of Gold." A long-established hotel and tourism group that offers authentic Peruvian travel experiences and exploration programs announced in 2012 that it would build a brand-new hotel here. The site was formerly a majestic monastery built in 1715, exuding Spanish colonial charm. A three-year restoration project guided by archaeologists has brought it back to life.

The upcoming "Palacio Nazarenas" hotel under the "Orient-Express" group retains the original architectural design, preserving its historic character while adding charming details. White adobe walls, arches, and wooden balconies were added to the structure, with the balconies’ vibrant blue hues complementing the azure sky. To ensure guests feel right at home, the "Palacio Nazarenas" offers thoughtful services. Due to Cusco’s high altitude of 11,000 feet, each suite is equipped with a ventilation system infused with fragrances of Andean flowers and herbs to help prevent altitude sickness and ensure ample oxygen in the bloodstream. Even the spacious bathroom floors are heated.

In addition to offering an espresso machine, minibar, Bose sound system, and free Wi-Fi, each room also provides an iPad preloaded with a Cusco travel guide, newspapers, movie recommendations, and restaurant suggestions to help craft a unique travel itinerary. Designed in collaboration between architects and interior designers, "Palacio Nazarenas" creates a vibrant atmosphere through the use of light, wellness facilities, and creative design elements—offering guests a luxurious experience while they explore Peru’s ancient civilizations and rich culture.
