15 players compete in “Formosa Challenge” to win NT$1 million!

Last year, TLC Travel & Living Channel’s “Formosa” won the Golden Bell Award for Best Travel/Adventure Program. This year, it has once again partnered with the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications to produce its first-ever competitive reality show, “Formosa Challenge,” with a production budget three times higher than previous programs. Unlike past seasons where Janet was the sole star, this time 15 travel enthusiasts from 8 different countries—selected from 3,000 foreign applicants—are coming to Taiwan to compete for the million-dollar prize. The first contestant will be eliminated after filming begins on July 18, with the final winner taking home the entire cash prize.

Hosted by Janet, who plays the role of the tough gatekeeper, “Formosa Challenge” tests contestants’ physical strength, intelligence, endurance, and teamwork skills through elimination rounds. The various challenges also cleverly incorporate uniquely Taiwanese elements, ensuring participants gain a deep understanding of the beautiful island and experience authentic Taiwan. Filming officially began on July 18 and took place across Taiwan—from mountains to seas. The show is set to premiere on TLC Travel & Living Channel in Taiwan this October and will subsequently air in 34 Asian countries, reaching over 134 million viewers.

Most of these 15 contestants have never been to Taiwan before. They include the handsome American Tully, taekwondo expert David, comedic actor Calvin with a great sense of humor, Belgian beauty model Claire, and fiery Estonian beauty Julia, among others. These contestants, with diverse backgrounds and personalities, are set to spark unique dynamics in “Formosa Challenge.” The show invites all Taiwanese people to come up with challenges to test these international players.
