A mass kissing event and a thousand-person lying-down gathering to be held in Taitung

The 4th Thousand People Lying-Down Event and Taitung Tourism Carnival will be held from 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM on August 6 at the large grassy field of the Luyeh Township Longtian Village Flight Landing Site. The event will feature traditional folk drum performances by local Longtian residents, well-known Aboriginal drum dances from Taitung, remote-controlled aircraft displays, large traditional kite performances, as well as captivating shows by famous Aboriginal singers.

The highlight of the event includes a thousand people lying down, a thousand people doing “planking” (lying face down), and kissing the earth, along with romantic elements such as a hundred couples kissing and dancing together, adding a Valentine’s Day atmosphere. Participants only need to pay a registration fee of NT$100 to receive an event participation certificate, a Taitung Card, and a souvenir. There will also be lucky draw prizes sponsored by vendors, including five-star hotel accommodation vouchers and flight tickets in Taitung—plenty of great prizes to be won!

Interested participants can register online or by phone. The registration deadline is 10:00 PM on July 30. Others may register on-site at the event registration desk on August 6 (from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM). This year’s event also welcomes couples to join the hundred-person kissing session, the thousand-person planking activity, and the romantic group dance.
