The Sun Moon Lake International Fireworks and Music Festival will make a dazzling debut in October.

This year marks the centennial of the nation’s founding, and the highly anticipated Sun Moon Lake Music Festival will be held on a grand scale. From October 8 to November 19, there will be eight consecutive lakeside fireworks concerts, featuring a star-studded lineup of renowned domestic and international performance groups for an extraordinary birthday celebration.

Held annually in October, the Sun Moon Lake International Music Festival is one of Taiwan’s major recurring events. Now in its fourth year, the first performance will open with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, “Ode to Joy.” The month-long program offers a diverse range of acts, including large-scale orchestras, famous European ensembles, and traditional Taiwanese operatic performances, ensuring excitement every week.

In previous years, accommodations around the festival area were often fully booked during the music festival period. The National Scenic Area Administration also urges visitors to plan ahead. During the day, tourists can explore the greater Sun Moon Lake area, take part in cultural activities such as pottery, tea ceremonies, or woodworking, enjoy the scenic beauty, and sample local snacks. In the evening, they can return to the lakeside to enjoy the beautiful concerts. Travelers can also take advantage of the integrated Sun Moon Lake transportation pass, which at 600 NT dollars includes bus, boat, and train rides, providing access to all nearby attractions in one go.
