Hawaii Launches a New Kauai Movie Tour Experience

In Hawaii, Taiwanese tourists generally only know about Oahu. Because they have to take an additional domestic flight from Oahu to Kauai, and due to the inconvenience and cost of transporting luggage, Kauai is often overlooked by consumers in the Taiwanese market; however, due to Kauai’s unique landscape, it has frequently been chosen as a filming location for movies in recent years, and the local area has also started to offer new movie-themed tour experiences.

The movie tour circles the entire island of Kauai and lasts six hours. It includes an exclusive visit to Coco Palms, which has served as a filming location for numerous movies and TV series, as well as the set of George Clooney’s newly completed film The Descendants. The tour also features lunch at Tahiti Nui, a spot full of wild natural beauty. Kauai’s landscapes are not only favored by romantic films but also frequently used for action movies—for example, Harrison Ford’s Six Days Seven Nights is one of them, and Johnny Depp’s Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides also shot scenes here while searching for the Fountain of Youth.

The full itinerary includes Waialua Waterfall, Kauai beaches, Opaekaa Waterfall, Hanamaulu Bay, Moloaa Bay, and the Hanalei Pier, among others. The movie tour is available from Monday to Saturday, daily from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM, and includes transportation, a guide, and lunch. Prices start at $105 USD for adults and $52.5 USD for children aged 4 to 11.
