Double the Enjoyment: Soaking in Taimali Hot Springs and Cherry Blossom Viewing in Taitung

For those looking to soak in hot springs and admire cherry blossoms, consider visiting Taitung’s Taimali during the holidays. The 2011 Taitung County Taimali Township Hot Spring Festival will make its first debut from December 3 to 18 at the Jinfeng Hot Spring area. The opening event will be held in front of Jinfeng Railway Station, featuring performances such as the Golden Needle Princess and Samurai Welcome Dance, traditional indigenous dance and song medleys, as well as special stalls selling local agricultural products. Visitors participating in the event will also receive free accommodation and hot spring vouchers.

The Jinfeng Hot Spring is located by the Jinfeng River, a typical valley-type hot spring where thermal waters emerge from the riverbank. The steam from the hot spring and the murmuring stream create a famous local spectacle. In winter, due to the low water flow, the hot spring water accumulates into pools, offering a very relaxing hot spring experience in a natural setting. The festival coincides with the blooming season of wild cherry blossoms in Taimali Township, where visitors can head to Golden Needle Mountain to admire the pale pink cherry blossom corridors or enjoy the leisurely activity of strolling along the shoreline at the Sunrise Park.

Additionally, during the Hot Spring Festival, guests staying at participating homestays can enjoy a 20% discount on both accommodation and hot spring entry. Although Taimali Township was severely affected by Typhoon Morakot, which heavily damaged the Jinfeng Hot Spring area, with support from various agencies, the area has been restored to its former beauty. This Hot Spring Festival also showcases the achievements of the reconstruction efforts.
