Travelers to Hong Kong and Macau now have more fine dining choices, as the renowned Michelin Guide officially launched the *2012 Hong Kong & Macau Michelin Guide* in Hong Kong today. The guide features a total of 281 restaurants and hotels in Hong Kong and 51 in Macau, including 59 newly added establishments (57 from Hong Kong and 2 from Macau), offering food lovers new gourmet options. Among the top-tier three-star restaurants, Hong Kong’s Cantonese cuisine restaurant Lung King Heen and Caprice at Four Seasons continue to hold their prestigious positions, while L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon and 8½ Otto e Mezzo – Bombana have been newly awarded three stars this year. In Macau, the French restaurant Robuchon a Galera at the Grand Lisboa Hotel retains its three-star status.

This year’s guide includes over 70% of selected restaurants offering Chinese cuisines such as Shanghai, Beijing, Sichuan, Hakka, Hangzhou, Cantonese, and Teochew dishes. In Hong Kong, there are 48 one-star restaurants and 10 two-star restaurants. Newly promoted to one-star status are Ah Yat Harbour View Restaurant, Caprice (International Finance Centre), Lei Garden (Causeway Bay), Mirror, Tin Lung Heen, and Yat Tung Heen; meanwhile, the “Bib Gourmand” list highlights restaurants offering great value, with three courses priced at no more than HK$300 (approximately NT$1,200). This year, 59 restaurants made the Bib Gourmand list, with new additions including Chen Qin Ji Lu E Restaurant, Show, Ippudo, Kun Kee Bamboo Noodle, La Marmite, Lan Yuan Restaurant, Beijing Sichuan Cuisine, Wang Tai Specialty Food, Delicious Kitchen, Mesa 15, Nha Trang (Tsim Sha Tsui), Noodle Stack, Shi Ji Kitchen, New Shin Qing Clear Soup Brisket Curry Specialist, First Cheung Fun Specialist, Zhujia, Basil, and New To Kei (Sha Tin).

Among the 12 restaurants listed in Macau, three have been awarded two stars: Zeffiro, 8½ Restaurant, and Wing Lei, with Wing Lei being upgraded from one star to two this year. There are also three one-star restaurants: Tao Heung Kitchen, Lei Garden, and newly listed Jing Hua Xuan. The “Bib Gourmand” list includes popular spots such as Lo Kei Porridge & Noodles, Luk Kee Porridge & Noodles, Cheung Kei Noodle Shop, Porridge & Noodle House, and “Sik Bat Fong,” while the locally beloved Lo Kei Porridge & Noodles has been recommended by the Michelin Guide for the first time.
