Latest Luxury Resort Opens on Koh Samui

InterContinental Samui Baan Taling Ngam Resort, the latest resort under InterContinental Hotels Group, proudly announced its grand opening on February 1, 2012. It is the only resort on the island offering private speedboat transfers directly to and from Samui International Airport. From now until July 15, 2012, an opening promotion is available, featuring sea view rooms starting from 6,500 Thai baht per night.

Located at the southwestern tip of Koh Samui in Baan Taling Ngam, the InterContinental Baan Taling Ngam Resort boasts breathtaking sunsets and panoramic 320-degree views of the famous “Five Islands” and Ang Thong National Marine Park. In addition to luxurious accommodation, the resort offers a private beach, world-class dining, and a star-rated spa perched 120 meters above sea level.

Set amidst 22 acres of lush coconut groves, the resort offers 79 accommodations, including 12 exclusive beachfront pool villas and 17 two-bedroom villas. Room sizes range from 67 to 320 square meters, each with a private balcony, spacious bathrooms equipped with bathtubs and rainfall showers, and unique color schemes that add a contemporary touch to the resort’s strong traditional Thai style. The 12 distinctive beachfront pool villas also feature private sundecks and pools.

The resort also offers a variety of exquisite dining options — the beachfront restaurant “Flames” serves modern European cuisine, with dishes cooked, grilled, or flame-seared right in front of guests; “Amber,” with its open kitchen concept, specializes in Thai and Asian dishes; while “Air Bar” presents innovative molecular cocktails crafted by Joseph Borowski from the renowned New York bar Sip Slowly, as well as sake, snacks, sushi, and sashimi.

The resort’s children’s club, “Planet Trekker Kid’s Club,” offers arts and crafts and various games. Additionally, the 600-square-meter wellness sanctuary “Baan Thai Spa” provides a range of traditional treatments to promote health and well-being, including Thai therapy, Western treatments, and Indian Ayurvedic medicine.

The resort is also the only hotel on Koh Samui exclusively offering products from the French skincare brand Institut Esthederm Paris’s Sun Spa Esthederm line. Therapists provide personalized sun care consultations by the pool and on the beach, helping guests select suitable products based on their sun exposure needs.

Koh Samui is about a one-hour flight from Bangkok and has direct domestic flights connecting to Phuket and Pattaya, as well as international direct flights to major Asian cities including Hong Kong, Singapore, and the soon-to-be-launched service to Kuala Lumpur.
