Lions and Phoenix travel groups head to New York to cheer for Jeremy Lin!

Riding the wave of NBA star Jeremy Lin’s popularity, Taiwanese travel agencies have started organizing tour groups to head to New York to support him. Lion Travel recently launched an “Easy NYC 8-Day Tour” departing on March 17th with guaranteed departure, and Phoenix Travel today also announced its latest “Let’s Linsanity: Go to NYC to Cheer for Jeremy Lin 7-Day” itinerary, including games on March 20 and 21 when the New York Knicks play at Madison Square Garden.

Lion Travel’s limited-edition Easy NYC 8-Day Tour emphasizes round-trip flights on the luxurious A380 Airbus, with a starting price of NT$39,900. It includes five nights’ accommodation, plus a one-day guided city tour of New York and a seven-day Metro pass. Compared to the market’s usual 10-day group independent travel package (including two nights’ accommodation), which starts at NT$53,888, it's practically like getting airfare and accommodation for the price of airfare. A Lion Travel PR representative said, “After Jeremy Lin defeated the Raptors and delivered another victory, our hotline has seen a nearly fourfold increase in inquiries today, and we’re not ruling out adding more flight seats.”

Phoenix Travel’s seven-day itinerary starts at NT$59,900, including five nights’ accommodation, a five-day New York Metro pass, and a one-day city tour. Shao Dingqing, Vice General Manager of the Americas Line Control Department, said, “This tour can depart with just 10 people, and we will also book the tickets for the New York Knicks games on March 20 and 21 for travelers.”
