Lilies bloom in the mountain mist – a perfect time to visit Taimali’s Golden Needle Mountain

In April, Golden Needle Mountain in Taimali Township, Taitung County, greets the late spring and early summer season with fields of lilies in full bloom. Wild native lilies flourish in the golden needle farms, homestay gardens, and pristine forests, while fireflies light up the night with their glowing lanterns, creating an overwhelmingly romantic pastoral scene.

Located in eastern Taiwan, Taimali gained fame for the millennium sunrise and has since become a iconic spot for watching the first light of the new year. By late spring in April and May, the Golden Needle Mountain at the border between Taimali Township and Jinfeng Township sees Taiwan’s native wild lilies burst into bloom across the hillsides with their distinctive white trumpet-shaped blossoms. The pure white lilies slowly awaken and blossom amidst the lush green mountains, emitting an otherworldly aura. In addition, every afternoon, warm, moist air forms mountain mist that gently rises along the slopes, creating a serene scene that makes one forget all worries. At night, countless fireflies dance across the sky, dotting the tranquil heavens.
