I still remember the double-heart stone weirs of Qimei emerging and disappearing rhythmically with the ebb and flow of the tides under the scorching sun. But how many have ventured to the windswept Island of Chrysanthemums in the cold winter months? In response, the Penghu National Scenic Area Administration under the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications has launched a creative travel ideas, photo, and microfilm contest under the theme “Blue Penghu, Heartfelt Moments.” Starting June 1, visitors can win up to NT$50,000 by submitting innovative ways to enjoy the Taiwan-Huayu Ferry or showcasing lesser-known travel spots in Penghu.

The “Blue Penghu, Heartfelt Moments” contest kicks off with a call for creative Taiwan-Huayu Ferry experiences. From June 1 to August 31, visitors who ride the ferry and come up with creative ideas can submit their proposals with photos and descriptions on the official website to compete for a top prize of NT$30,000. The subsequent photo and microfilm contest invites entries featuring lesser-known Penghu destinations; photos or videos taken between May 1 and September 30 are eligible. Submissions will be accepted from October 1 to October 7, with public voting scheduled from November 1 to November 30. The microfilm category offers a top prize of NT$50,000, while the photo category’s top prize is NT$10,000. Voters may also win a TOBE car.

Additionally, Taiwan Navigation Co., Ltd. will host the “New Port PLAY ‘Check-in Without Fatigue – Taiwan-Huayu Ferry Check-in for Gifts’” campaign. From June 1 to June 30 during ticketing hours (08:00–16:30), visitors to the Kaohsiung ticket office of the Taiwan-Huayu Ferry can show their Facebook check-in to receive a set of keychains and phone charms—limited to 10 sets per day, totaling 300 sets while supplies last.
