Located in Kaohsiung, Crane Moon Pavilion (He Yue Ting) exudes strong Japanese vibes from the moment you see the shop front — featuring a red torii gate and red-and-white lantern decorations, it feels like you've been whisked away to Japan in an instant. The shop specializes in takoyaki, okonomiyaki, and dango skewers. The recently popular green-hued dessert “matcha uji kintoki takoyaki” is truly unique — it's hard to find anywhere else. Because of its resemblance to cantaloupe, it’s also dubbed “melon takoyaki.” Essentially, the matcha uji kintoki takoyaki is a sweet version of takoyaki made with soy flour and matcha. You can smell the aroma as it cooks, and inside you’ll find red beans and melted mochi-like filling. The combination of textures — chewy, soft, and creamy — is delightful. The slightly bitter taste of the matcha contrasts beautifully with the sweetness, making it a favorite among visitors.
