International students win free accommodation to explore New Taipei City through creative planning

To enable international backpackers to fully immerse themselves in New Taipei City’s natural and cultural scenery, the New Taipei City Government Tourism and Travel Bureau is holding the “2012 Play & Stay in New Taipei City ‘Heartfelt Experience’” campaign. Starting today, it is recruiting international students in Taiwan to submit travel plans for New Taipei City. As long as they plan according to the recommended itinerary and explain their travel purpose, itinerary arrangements, and expected gains, 20 international students will be selected to stay for free in New Taipei City hotels or homestays. Those who share their travel experiences on blogs and other social media platforms will also receive a Play & Stay Fund of NT$5,000.

This event requires participants to complete registration and the experience by September 30. All currently enrolled university or college international students in Taiwan, or those who will graduate this year, are eligible to apply. Applicants must plan their trip based on one of the six recommended routes listed in the application form: Wulai, Shiding, Jinshan, Tamsui, Sanxia, and Ruifang. Selected participants will receive free accommodation for two nights or more. Additionally, those who share their experience on personal Facebook, Weibo, blogs, or other social networks within five days after completing their stay, and meet the required number of posts, will receive a Play & Stay Fund of NT$5,000.

In addition, the works shared by participants will be judged through online voting and by travel experts. The top three winners will receive cash prizes ranging from NT$10,000 to NT$20,000. For more information about the event, visit the website: www.rtd.com.tw/new_taipei.
