County Government Subsidies Make Green Island a “Green” Low-Carbon Trip Starting from NT$4,190

Taitung County Government has launched the “Low-Carbon Light Travel Green Island GO” campaign. By integrating a local low-carbon industry alliance on Green Island, it has introduced low-carbon travel packages for the off-peak months of September and October. The initiative encourages visitors to explore the island via shuttle buses, bicycles, and on foot, and to bring their own utensils and toiletries. To promote and reward the concept of green travel, the county government will subsidize NT$400 per person to participating operators (limited to 2,000 people) during this period. Operators will then offer discounted package tours, with the lowest-priced regular two-day-one-night Green Island trip starting from just NT$4,190.

Uni Air operates three round-trip flights daily, increasing to four on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. It has also packaged an environmentally friendly Uni Holidays Green Island Low-Carbon Sightseeing Tour. The tour is for two people, with a two-day-one-night stay starting from just NT$4,190 per person. It includes round-trip flights from Taipei to Taitung, round-trip ferry tickets from Taitung to Green Island, accommodation, transfers between docks in Taitung and Green Island, breakfast, and a complimentary 24-hour bicycle rental. This is even more cost-effective than purchasing discounted round-trip advance tickets for NT$4,100. Departure dates range from September 1 to October 31.

Meanwhile, Mandarin Airlines has added three extra weekly flights from Taipei to Taitung starting September 1, increasing from the original two daily flights to three on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. In line with the low-carbon campaign, from now until September 30, it has also partnered with travel agencies such as Cola, Canaan Star, Lion Travel, and Southeast Travel to launch discounted two-day-one-night packages. These include market-low prices such as starting from NT$3,988 at Luming Hot Spring Hotel, NT$4,476 at Chihpen Laurence Hotel, NT$4,888 at Taitung Naluwan, NT$5,388 at Rihbao Resort, and NT$3,888 at Green Island.
