The 2012 Creative Taichung—Top Chinese Design Expo will take place from September 22 to October 14 at the CMP BLOCK QIN Art Museum on Taichung’s Cultural Boulevard. The event features two major themes: the “Chinese Designers Exhibition” and the “Creative Lifestyle Theme Exhibition.” The expo opens on the evening of September 22 at 19:00, with a 24-hour marathon opening ceremony planned at the QIN Art Museum plaza. The night will feature a laser show, an open-air plaza cocktail party, a micro-cinema, and beautiful music throughout, creating a glamorous and artistic night in Taichung.

In the Chinese Designers Exhibition, Qixiang Creation CEO Xie Rongya will serve as the curatorial consultant, with participation from 11 notable figures in the Chinese design world, including BenQ Group Design Director Wang Qianrui, fashion designer Gu Youwen who won the Avant-Garde Fashion Award at the international Gen Art competition in the U.S., Taiwan’s first winner of the International Advertising Association’s London International Awards Gold Prize, Chen Zhonghong, Studio Shida creative director Shi Dayu, and Zhiben Image Advertising creative director Tsai Huizhen.
The Creative Lifestyle Theme Exhibition gathers well-known domestic lifestyle design brands such as Dake Idea, Dashivisual, Faden, Carpenter Brothers, Nordic Design, Dongyang Bicycle, Yuansin International, Yangtai Electronics, Smell Library, Damo Workshop, and Rapgioja Music Hall, as well as award-winning international works from creative students of Taichung University of Science and Technology, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, Tunghai University, and Shih Chien University. The exhibition covers food, clothing, housing, transportation, and leisure entertainment, showcasing a vibrant array of creative lifestyle pleasures.
The exhibition also features a series of holiday events, including a Creative Market held on September 23, September 30, October 7, and October 13 from 10:00 to 17:00 on the Cultural Boulevard, featuring 20 booths offering handmade glassware, wool felting, and more. On September 22, October 7, and October 13, a series of Creative Lifestyle Lectures and Design Thinking Workshops will be held at Taichung University of Science and Technology, Taichung Municipal Huludun Cultural Center, and Taichung Municipal Dadun Cultural Center, respectively. The “Design Thinking vs. Lifestyle Creativity” workshop on October 13 is only available via online registration, requires a course deposit of NT$200 (fully refundable after class), and is open for enrollment through the event’s official website: www.2012creativetaichung.com.tw.
