The "Taiwan Tourism Calendar" county/city international events selection project, hosted by the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, has selected 22 of the most representative international-level events from a total of 45 activities submitted by local county and city governments across Taiwan. These include the Toucheng Ghost-Catching Festival, Keelung Ghost Festival, Mazu Cultural Festival, Yanshui Beehive Rockets, Neidan Songjiang Military Parade, and Spring Scream Music Festival. Among them, Yilan County, New Taipei City, Hsinchu County, and Taitung County each have two events selected. Including other events organized by central government ministries, the Tourism Bureau, and their affiliated national scenic area administration offices, a total of 42 event items have been included in the Taiwan Tourism Calendar.

The Neidan Songjiang Military Parade, which has been selected for the Taiwan Tourism Calendar, will be held from March 30 to April 7, 2013. During this period, the public can visit Neidan to explore and experience the touching culture of traditional parades and taste the unique feast cuisine prepared by local master chefs. The Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications stated that the initial selection process for the 2013 Taiwan Tourism Calendar included 45 events submitted by 20 county and city governments across Taiwan. After the preliminary selection, 29 events were shortlisted, and then 22 of the most representative international-level events were chosen based on six key criteria: event content, supporting measures, resource integration, promotional marketing, event impact, and future prospects. In addition to the 22 international events selected from county and city governments, there are also 20 other events organized by central government ministries, the Tourism Bureau, its affiliated national scenic area administration offices, and those held in the Top 10 Small Tourist Towns — such as the Taiwan Lantern Festival, Taiwan Culinary Exhibition, Taiwan Hot Springs & Gourmet Carnival, Taiwan Bicycle Festival, Summer Solstice at 23.5°N, Taipei Marathon, and the Miaoli Sanyi International Woodcarving Art Festival — bringing the total to 42 events included in the Taiwan Tourism Calendar.
