Taipei New Year’s Eve Concert: Aaron Kwok & A-Mei to Perform, Collect Passport Stamps for Gifts

Taipei City’s theme for this year’s New Year celebrations is “Taipei on Its Way to Becoming a World Design Capital.” In line with the four-day holiday, the city government has specially organized the “Travel Through Taipei” stamp-collecting event. Participants can explore Taipei’s street corners and alleys through passport attractions, experiencing the city’s unique charm. The highlight of the celebration, the New Year’s Eve concert, will take place at the Civic Plaza in front of the Taipei City Hall this year, featuring performances by superstar Aaron Kwok, A-Mei, and others—delivering a performance on par with that of the Taipei Arena—and will be accompanied by the French-style romance of the Taipei 101 fireworks show.

The “Travel Through Taipei” passport will be printed in 10,000 copies. The public can collect them from December 17 to December 30 at five of Taipei City’s Tourism Service Centers, located at Taipei Main Station, Dongmen Underground Street Station, Taipei City Hall Transfer Station, Beitou MRT Station, and Ximen MRT Station. By visiting design-themed attractions in Ximending, Xinyi District, Beitou District, Zhongshan District, and Dongmen Station and collecting stamps in the activity passport, participants who collect any five stamps can exchange them for the first-prize winning artwork “Rainbow Pen” from the “Taipei Keeps You Company on Your Travels” design competition at the service desk in front of the Taipei City Hall Civic Plaza during the designated exchange period. This design-forward rainbow pen takes inspiration from the form of the Taipei 101 building and features vibrant colors, highlighting memories unique to travels in Taipei. Exchange times are December 30 (1,000 pens) and December 31 (1,150 pens), from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Quantities are limited and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Ximending attractions include the Red House, Celebrity Café, and Zhongshan Hall; Xinyi District includes Songshan Cultural and Creative Park and 44 South Village; Beitou District includes Beitou Cultural Artifacts Museum, Beitou Hot Spring Museum, and Ketagalan Cultural Center; Zhongshan District includes Taipei Home, Museum of Contemporary Art Taipei, and Wang Dechuan Tea House; and Dongmen Station features Islander Studio and Chang Yi Workshop.
