High-speed rail Spring Festival tickets go on sale at midnight on January 11

This year (2013), the Spring Festival holiday lasts for nine consecutive days. To serve passengers traveling home or going on trips, Taiwan High Speed Rail will increase 159 southbound and 174 northbound trains, totaling 333 additional services, during the transportation period from February 7 to February 18, 2013. Over the 12-day period, a total of 1,917 services with 1,895,913 seats will be provided. Passengers may start purchasing round-trip tickets for the transportation period all at once from midnight on January 11.

Taiwan High Speed Rail will continue to offer non-reserved seating services during the Spring Festival transportation period. On February 8 and February 17, which are expected to be peak travel days, four additional non-reserved cars will be added to each train. Passengers holding periodical tickets, return tickets, or EasyCard co-branded cards can tap their cards to enter stations and ride in the non-reserved cars of any service during the transportation period. The 45-day validity period for return tickets and the 30-day validity period for periodical tickets will remain unchanged and will not be extended. The “Standard Car Discount” promotion will also apply during the transportation period. Passengers who use designated bank credit cards to pay for tickets via the THSR online booking system can enjoy discounted standard car fares through bonus points or fee deductions. Additionally, the Early Bird discount will not be available during the transportation period. Other promotions such as limited business class upgrades, college student discounts, school trip packages, and THSR ticket packages will also be suspended.

 

Passengers may purchase round-trip tickets for the transportation period all at once through 24-hour convenience stores partnered with THSR, including FamilyMart, 7-Eleven, Hi-Life, and OK Mart, as well as the online booking system, the “THSR T Express” mobile app, the voice reservation system, or at ticket windows and ticket vending machines at THSR stations during operating hours.
