Holographic projection brings back the charm – Teresa Teng special exhibition tickets now on sale

Teresa Teng’s sweet voice once comforted the hearts of hundreds of millions across the strait; her untimely passing in her prime left countless fans heartbroken and sorrowful. This year marks the 60th anniversary of her passing, and the “Chasing Dreams – The Eternal Teresa Teng Special Exhibition” will be held from January 26 to April 21 at the Chiang Kai-shek Hall and Ruiyuan Hall of the National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall. The exhibition will use innovative methods to present the complete and brilliant life journey of this Mandopop superstar through cultural relics, songs, audiovisual media, and holographic projections. Pre-sale tickets are available from today until January 25 at the seven-eleven, FamilyMart, Hi-Life, and OK convenience store chains, as well as the Books.com.tw ticketing system. Tickets for two people cost 250 NTD (original price 500 NTD). In addition, during the exhibition period, the “Sharing Your Birth Year with Teresa” campaign will allow anyone born in the 42nd year of the Republic of China (1953) to visit for free upon presenting their ID.

This exhibition, jointly planned by the Teresa Teng Cultural and Educational Foundation and the United Daily News Group, follows the storyline of “the three dreams Teresa Teng pursued in her lifetime,” divided into six exhibition zones. With popular songs such as “The Mainlander,” “Flying Rainbow,” “Rambling Through Life,” “I Only Care for You,” “May We All Be Blessed with Longevity,” and “When Will You Return?” as the backdrop, visitors will feel as if they’ve traveled through time, reliving the nostalgia of the past. Connecting the six major exhibition areas are not only Teresa Teng’s well-known masterpieces but also the main visual element — butterflies, which symbolize Teresa Teng herself. Notably, to create the holographic projection, designer Fang Guoqiang designed a purple butterfly dress that vividly recreates Teresa Teng’s stage presence.

 

Yang Dadde, Chief Operating Officer of the United Daily News Group’s Events Division, said that Teresa Teng’s sweet and highly infectious singing voice has deeply resonated with people. Even today, many renowned singers in the Asian music scene, including Faye Wong and Jacky Cheung, have performed her songs in tribute to her. In 1986, she was named one of the “World’s Seven Greatest Female Singers” and one of the “World’s Top Ten Most Popular Female Stars” by Time magazine, earning international acclaim for her singing achievements. Although Teresa Teng has been gone for eighteen years, her gentle and graceful voice continues to live on in the hearts of many. In the 100th year of the Republic of China (2011), her iconic song “The Moon Represents My Heart” received 1.42 million votes and won first place in the online poll for “Classic Songs of the Centennial of the Republic,” proving that people still deeply cherish her memory.
