Dadaocheng Music Fireworks Festival
The Dadaocheng Music Fireworks Festival, coming up this weekend (August 10), will conclude with a fireworks show from 8:30 to 8:50 PM. The spectacular 20-minute display will be accompanied by live performances from the Taipei Symphony Orchestra’s Wind Orchestra. The fireworks colors have been specially selected to match this year’s event theme—featuring Z-shaped, C-shaped, W-shaped, and fan-pattern effects that synchronize with the music. Additionally, the “Lover’s Rain” (also known as Golden Rain), crowned the most romantic firework by Japan’s Fireworks Association in 2012, will light up Taipei’s night sky in a shower of golden sparks.

Qixi Love Series Events in Qingguang/Circle Mountain Shopping District
The Qingguang/Circle Mountain Shopping District, located near the MRT hubs Zhongshan Elementary School Station and Circle Mountain Station, will host stage performances from 2:00 to 6:00 PM on August 10. Seven couples who sign up on-site will get to participate for free in the “Qingyuan Summer Love Romantic Journey.” These couples will ride the district’s Love Bus to explore Qingyuan, enjoying food, fun, and shopping, and will take part in the “Romance Challenge: No Obstacles to Love” activity to test their chemistry. Winning couples will instantly receive a special prize. Additionally, from now until August 26, visitors who bring the Qingguang/Circle Mountain Shopping District guidebook to participating stores to collect points can win a chance at a five-day trip for two to Kyoto, Osaka, and Kobe.

Biotope Bridge Music Light Show
The Biotope Bridge Music Light Show combines light and music, performing every evening from 7:00 to 9:00 PM with shows every 30 minutes. Each day has a different theme, running Monday to Sunday in the following order: Shining, Ripples, Dreams, Flowing Water, Weaving Through, Waves, and Chasing. Starting at 7:00 PM on August 10, a concert will feature performances by the “Quality Orchestra,” founded by former Taipei Symphony Orchestra member Dr. Xie Chaozhong, and the improvisation-focused “Do As You Please Orchestra,” performing in the blue tent area and the East Bank Plaza respectively. The concerts will include a variety of Western classical music and classic love songs, and at 7:30 PM, the music will sync with the light show to perform the third movement of Vivaldi’s “Summer,” creating a spectacular audiovisual experience.

Hsinchu City’s “Love You Forever, Mediterranean Romance” Qixi Valentine’s Series
The “Love You Forever, Mediterranean Romance” Qixi Valentine’s series, taking place from 6:00 to 9:00 PM on August 13 at Hsinchu’s Nanliao Mediterranean area, offers a range of free activities, including a mini train and love-themed train station, free swan boat rides, free costume photo props, live music performances, and stargazing with telescopes. Additionally, lover’s cinemas will be held on August 11, 18, and 25 from 2:00 PM in the lecture and audiovisual room on the third floor of the Hsinchu City Cultural Affairs Bureau, screening selected romantic movies for couples to enjoy together.

Tainan Love City Qixi Carnival
The “2013 Tainan Love City Qixi Carnival,” running from now until August 31, centers around two main themes: “Four Joys of Life” and “Where the Heart Is.” The former explores traditional temple customs associated with Qixi through creative and fun approaches, featuring in-depth guided tours, holiday concerts, and themed exhibitions.
