Yellow Rubber Duck Visits Kaohsiung, Celebrates Mid-Autumn Festival at Glory Pier

The Yellow Rubber Duck (Rubber Duck) has made its first stop in Taiwan at Kaohsiung, where it will be on display at Glory Pier from September 19th (Mid-Autumn Festival) to October 20th. It is expected to draw over 3 million visitors. During the Rubber Duck’s visit to Kaohsiung, other major events such as the Greater Kaohsiung Super Rock Day, APEC Cities Summit, and the World Dance Competition will also take place, welcoming both domestic and international tourists to experience the vibrant diversity of Kaohsiung.

The globally popular Yellow Rubber Duck has been touring the world since 2007, visiting more than 10 cities including Amsterdam, Sydney, Osaka, and Hong Kong, covering all four continents. Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman, who is visiting Taiwan for the first time, said he came up with the idea for the Yellow Rubber Duck in 2001. He hopes the duck can connect people across different regions, bring the world closer together, and make the world feel like one big family where everyone cares for one another. He also firmly believes the exhibition in Kaohsiung will be a success, resonating with the city’s culture and sharing the duck’s joy with the people of Taiwan.

 

The Yellow Rubber Duck displayed in Kaohsiung this time will be the largest in Asia and the second largest in the world, standing 18 meters tall (about six stories high), with a floating base diameter of 15 meters. It will be exhibited free of charge at Glory Pier starting from Mid-Autumn Festival for a one-month period. On the day of the Mid-Autumn Festival, the Yellow Rubber Duck will officially enter the harbor.
