When celebrities open restaurants, they not only share their favorite types and styles of cuisine with the public, but also offer more diverse food choices. Hong Kong actress Liu Yifei has opened three innovative restaurants on the 18th floor of The ONE shopping mall in Tsim Sha Tsui, featuring Japanese cuisine, Spanish delicacies, and Spanish tapas. Two of the venues focus on modern Kyoto-style Japanese cuisine and avant-garde Spanish fare, while the third is a vibrant bar that features a resident DJ every Friday and Saturday night after 10:30 PM. The launch of this new culinary landmark marks Liu Yifei’s first foray into Hong Kong’s dining scene, following her previous ventures in operating restaurants and nightclubs in Shanghai and Beijing.

Kyoshun

The Japanese restaurant Kyoshun exudes a contemporary minimalist atmosphere and serves traditional Kyo-kaiseki (Kyoto-style multi-course) cuisine, using seasonal ingredients and presented as à la carte items. Both indoor and outdoor spaces feature sand garden layouts. The interior is paved with richly colored dark wood flooring, and there is an open kitchen where diners can watch Japanese chefs prepare various refined Kyoto dishes, including silky tofu with fresh yuba (tofu skin) simmered in various sauces — with ingredients flown fresh daily from Japan — and sea bream donabe rice cooked in a vessel made by the renowned Kyoto ceramic kiln Kumoi Gama. All dishes are grilled using Japanese binchotan charcoal from Kyoto.

Zurriola

The romantic and upscale Spanish restaurant Zurriola features warm wooden finishes that create a classic ambiance, reminiscent of iconic buildings along Barcelona’s famous La Rambla. Chef Pedro Samper has crafted refined contemporary dishes, including a selection of hot and cold small plates, Spanish specialty Bomba rice, pasta, main courses, and desserts, aiming to earn a Michelin star in its early days. Star dishes include: one-minute low-temperature cooked Japanese mackerel with sweet pepper sauce and salad; pan-seared red snapper with Spanish cider, pine nuts, and raisins soaked in wine; and 36-hour slow-cooked lamb neck with seasonal greens.

The restaurant also imports high-quality produce from Spain, such as a wide selection of artisanal cheeses, as well as a variety of classic aged Spanish wines, all displayed as guests pass through the dimly lit, three-meter-high wine cellar into the dining area.

Additionally, the private dining rooms offer breathtaking panoramic views of Victoria Harbour, with the glittering skyline of Hong Kong Island visible across the water. These rooms can accommodate up to 16 people and come with terraces, allowing guests to enjoy an outdoor dining experience in the evening breeze.

TAPAGRIA

This new urban hotspot also includes the dazzling Spanish bar TAPAGRIA. In addition to offering Spanish wines and tapas, the bar transforms into a venue with a resident DJ every Friday and Saturday night after 10:30 PM.

TAPAGRIA creates an intimate atmosphere with soft lighting, and its curvilinear bar design complements the open kitchen behind it. Paired with standout chairs and bar stools, the visuals draw your attention and pay homage to the legendary Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí.

TAPAGRIA boasts one of the widest selections of Spanish Sangria in Hong Kong, blending different fruit flavors with red wine, white wine, rosé, Spanish sparkling wine (Cava), and Spanish rosé sparkling wine (Cava Rosé) to create over 65 varieties of Sangria. Its outdoor terrace offers a relaxed vibe and luxurious style, making it an ideal spot to sip cocktails while admiring Hong Kong’s stunning cityscape.

Liu Yifei said: “I chose to open Japanese and Spanish restaurants because the food from both places is very stylish, popular, and also my personal favorites. I traveled with the chefs to Kyoto and Barcelona to learn about the cooking techniques and gather various creative ideas, striving to create décor that captures the authentic and distinctive charm of each place.”
