A Tree of Kindness: Chang Yung-fa Foundation's Tea Offering Under the "Takeo Tree" & Bike Rentals in Chihshang

Recently, a TV commercial titled "I SEE YOU" featuring actor Takeshi Kaneshiro as the spokesperson for EVA Air turned the scenic beauty of Chihshang in Taitung into an overnight sensation, sparking a wave of visitors eager to find the famous "Takeo Tree." However, the overwhelming influx of tourists has led to issues such as illegal parking and littering, causing considerable distress to local residents. To encourage all travelers to cherish Chihshang’s tranquility and natural charm, EVA Air has initiated a tea-serving tradition under the "Takeo Tree." Tea is offered every Saturday, Sunday, and public holiday, with daily service extended during summer vacation and Lunar New Year. In addition to welcoming visitors, this gesture also aims to promote environmental stewardship. Meanwhile, Taitung County Government provides bike rentals for just NT$100 and free guided tours on holidays.

To share the behind-the-scenes process of the commercial’s production with fellow travelers, EVA Air has produced a special feature titled "I SEE YOU: A Complete Guide to Chihshang’s Filming Locations," allowing visitors to explore the hidden stories behind each spot. Uni Air has also launched a travel package called "I SEE YOU: Search for Paradise," making it easy for travelers to enjoy Taitung. Taitung County Government has partnered with the Chihshang Cultural Interpretation Association to promote the "Tea Under the Tree, Bike Around Chihshang" campaign. From now until November 30, locals and tourists can rent bicycles for just NT$100 per day, with free guided tours available on weekends and public holidays to foster a deeper appreciation of Taitung’s pristine landscapes.

 

EVA Air extends its gratitude to Wan’an Village and Jinyuan Village for their support during the filming of "I SEE YOU." For the tea-serving initiative under the Takeo Tree, special thanks go to Wan’an Village Chief Wei Rong-zeng and community members who generously agreed to brew tea for visitors. This heartfelt gesture not only showcases Taiwan’s unique warmth and hospitality but also reminds guests to take their trash with them after enjoying tea under the tree, helping to preserve Chihshang’s natural beauty. EVA Air also earnestly hopes that visitors will avoid driving tour buses or cars onto Brolin Boulevard or Takeo Boulevard. Instead, they are encouraged to cycle, like Takeshi Kaneshiro, and immerse themselves in the serene experience of riding through endless rice fields—working together to maintain Chihshang’s idyllic charm.
