Taipei Countdown Connects with Japan's Kohaku Song Contest & Fukuyama Masaharu Concert for a Lively New Year

With less than two weeks to go before New Year’s Eve, this year’s “Taipei’s Most Exciting New Year’s Eve 2014 Countdown Party” not only features a superstar lineup including top idols, divas, and chart-topping bands, but also offers an international touch with a live broadcast linked to Japan’s NHK. International superstar Fukuyama Masaharu will interact live from his Yokohama concert venue as Taipei ushers in the new year.

This year’s Taipei countdown goes global, syncing live with Japan’s NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen and Fukuyama Masaharu’s Yokohama concert for a three-location simulcast. Japanese music icon Fukuyama Masaharu is making his first overseas performance as a musician, specially designing an exclusive act for the Taipei countdown and interacting directly with the live audience. Additionally, the international streaming platforms for this year’s Taipei countdown have expanded significantly. In an exclusive collaboration with global video streaming service Viki, the event will also be co-streamed across seven of the most popular video platforms in the Chinese-speaking world—iQiyi, Tencent, Baofeng Video, Xunlei Video, Le.com, PPTV, and PPS—covering all five continents, with an estimated audience of over 100 million tuning in simultaneously to watch the 2014 Taipei Countdown.

 

Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-pin stated that this year’s Taipei countdown breaks precedent not only with a stellar cast including Blue Lan, Jolin Tsai, Yoga Lin, Wei Bird, Liu Ziqian, Bii, Dream Girls, Lin Meixiu, Ma Nianxian, Chairman Band, Luan Tan Ah Xiang, Wilber Pan, and SHE—but also invites elites from various fields. Among them, the Ministry of National Defense’s Tri-Service Military Band has designed a special performance exclusively for the Taipei countdown to inspire everyone to embrace the new year with a more positive and proactive attitude. Taiwan’s pride Yang Dai-kang and heroes of the Chinese Professional Baseball League—Luo Jin-long, Lin Chih-sheng, Chen Yong-chi, Kao Chih-kang, Chow Szu-chi, Yang Yao-hsun, and Kuo Yen-wen—will also join the celebration, bringing the boundless determination and dream-chasing spirit of baseball players to infuse the Taipei countdown with even more positive energy, inspiring and touching everyone.

 

Additionally, the “Taipei City Government” official LINE account has officially launched, allowing the public to receive the latest and fastest updates on countdown events and municipal services. Starting now, simply add the city government’s official account as a friend to enter a lucky draw. Those who join before December 25 will also have the chance to win seats in the countdown VIP area, enjoying an up-close experience of the countdown party.
