The enchanting Christmas lights on Tokyo’s Omotesando draw crowds

December in Tokyo is truly a land brimming with Christmas cheer, as major shopping malls unveil Christmas trees and dazzling light shows. The bustling international hotspot Omotesando also decorates its roadside trees with starry lights, creating a romantic scene that fills everyone present with a festive mood and attracts many to take photos with their phones and cameras.

It’s worth noting that during the Christmas light display period, pedestrian access to the overpass is usually prohibited to prevent people from lingering to take night photos. The stretch of lights from the Meiji-dori entrance to the Aoyama-dori entrance features Omotesando Hills as a key highlight. The popular destination “TOKYU PLAZA,” which opened in April 2012, not only boasts an outdoor garden Christmas tree display on the 6th floor that draws a continuous stream of visitors for photos, but also offers a special HAPPY LOUNGE open-air café on the 2nd floor where guests can relax and enjoy the illuminated night view of Omotesando.
