A must-have for railway enthusiasts: Last chance to buy the old-style namecard tickets from Taiwan Railways' "Houtong" station

In recent years, Houtong Station of Taiwan Railways has gained fame for its "cat village." Aside from the beautiful mountainous scenery, the old-style "namecard tickets" have also been widely loved by railway enthusiasts. However, after Taiwan Railways, last year (2013), restored the original place name "Houtong" in response to local opinions, the previously existing "侯硐" (Houdong) namecard tickets became out of print. This indirectly caused these “treasures” in the hearts of railway fans to suddenly disappear, prompting many to lament their loss. To provide railway enthusiasts with a chance to collect them,Taiwan Railways will hold a special sale of namecard tickets starting today (the 17th)— railway fans who want to collect them should act fast.

Given the extraordinary value and historical significance of these namecard tickets, and inspired by the idea of “finding a worthy owner,” so that these treasures with historical imprints can find collectors to cherish them,Taiwan Railways will hold a one-week special sale starting today at the ticketing service center window on the second floor of Houtong Station,selling all the precious namecard tickets for various train classes. Taiwan Railways reminds the public,the sale period runs from now until March 22, daily from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Cash only is accepted on-site — credit cards are not permitted, and due to the uniqueness of each namecard ticket design, tickets are available while supplies last.
