New attraction at Maokong: Visit Little Skywalk to admire the country’s only lupine sea

“Maokong” boasts rolling mountain vistas and layered tea plantations, making it Taipei’s most famous tea-growing region. This year, the new attraction “Little Skywalk” has been completed, offering a 360-degree wide-angle view from high above, allowing visitors to take in the beautiful valleys of Maokong, and it coincides with the blooming of the country’s only lupine sea. The fields are covered with swaying flowers, complemented by the fresh green leaves of the bald cypress, creating a lush scene.

Huang Liyuan, head of the Earth Engineering Office, stated that Little Skywalk was jointly developed with the strength of local tea farmers and features a unique circular sky platform. It also includes the distinctly Japanese-style “Eternal Bond Pavilion,” the heart-shaped “Heart-to-Heart Pond,” as well as an ancient and towering “Moon God Tree,” all combining to create a romantic setting that witnesses everlasting love and has become a new attraction in the Maokong area. Additionally, next to the Colorful Cloud Pavilion, there is a specially created large red flower heart and several tall-standing bald cypress trees—visitors are welcome to explore and capture beautiful moments and memories.

In addition, Xia Xiantong, head of the Road Trails Section, said that the Camphor Tree Trail has recently been covered with lupines in three colors, spanning an area of 1.5 hectares—the only lupine sea in the country. The flowering season runs from the end of March to mid-April. Unlike previous years, this year the flowers are presented in yellow, white, and blue, blooming luxuriantly and swaying in the wind.
