So-net prepaid SIM card for internet access in Japan – ultra convenient for travelers

So-net’s new prepaid SIM card service at the airport makes it easy for foreign tourists to purchase and continue using their own familiar devices for internet access. It provides a user-friendly online option for visitors in Japan, allowing them to buy the SIM card as soon as they arrive and use it immediately.

 

The “Prepaid LTE SIM” comes in two data options: 100MB or 500MB, paired with three different SIM card sizes, making a total of six product combinations now available for purchase. The 30-day 100MB plan costs JPY 3,000 (about TWD 80), while the 60-day 500MB plan is JPY 5,000 (about TWD 475), both providing connectivity at less than TWD 30 per day. Once the data allowance is used up, users can top up through recharge plans. These include 30-day 200MB, 30-day 500MB, and 60-day 1GB options, priced at approximately JPY 1,500, JPY 2,000, and JPY 3,838 respectively.

 

The “Prepaid LTE SIM” is a prepaid card that only requires a simple online registration process after purchase to activate. Additionally, it offers multilingual support, with customer service available in both Japanese and English, and website content provided in Japanese, English, Chinese, Korean, and Thai.

 

Starting April 22, the “Prepaid LTE SIM” will be sold simultaneously at Kansai International Airport and Narita International Airport. At Kansai International Airport, it will be available directly from vending machines, so travelers don’t need to worry about flight arrival times—they can purchase the SIM card anytime. At Narita International Airport, it will be sold at the Telecom Square Mobile Center in both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.
