Shoushan Zoo Celebrates Mother’s Day with “Mommie Bear & Crane Longevity SWEET”

For a heartwarming Mother’s Day, Shoushan Zoo is launching the “Bears Love Mommies — Give a Kiss” free admission event on May 10th. On the day of the event, as long as little ones give their moms a kiss on the cheek and say “I love you,” they can enjoy free admission on the spot. Kaohsiung City Government Tourism Bureau Director Hsu Chuan-sheng will lead as the “king of kids” and guide 50 parent-child groups in making honey toast “Bear Sweet Treats” snacks to thank the moms, as well as a “Mommie Bear Relax” foot-washing filial activity for 100 people. In addition, a mother-and-cub pair of Formosan black bears will also make an appearance, enjoying the large-scale ZOO “Bear Sweet Treats” snack.

Tourism Bureau Director Hsu Chuan-sheng stated that to thank moms for their hard work throughout the year, the “Mommie Bear & Crane Longevity SWEET” filial activity is specially held over the Mother’s Day weekend. Special thanks go to Jingyuan Farm for gifting Chilean flamingos, adding new animal friends to Shoushan Zoo. This event has invited 50 parent-child groups to make “Bear Sweet Treats” using ingredients such as bread sticks, fruits, and custard cream. Additionally, a giant 110 cm by 40 cm ZOO “Bear Sweet Treats” specially made for Formosan black bears will be created at the event site. Bear mommy and baby along with bear cub Bobby will enjoy Mother’s Day together, while also promoting animal conservation knowledge to the public to care for Formosan black bears.

The Mother’s Day event this Saturday also incorporates parent-child educational fun. Nearly 100 people will participate in the “Mommie Bear Relax” filial foot-washing activity. A professional wellness master will be invited to the site to guide children on how to give their moms medicinal foot baths — “Mommie Bear Relax.” Thirty groups can sign up online, and 20 groups can sign up on-site. Additionally, Shoushan Zoo’s Facebook fan page is also hosting a warm Mother’s Day event. Simply upload a photo of your child giving mom a kiss on the zoo’s Facebook fan page to join the “Kiss Mommie and Win Prizes” activity.
