Not just the tour bus company involved in the accident — "Butterfly Lovers" also ordered to suspend operations by tourism authorities

A tour bus operated by Butterfly Lovers Travel Agency for a cherry blossom viewing trip overturned, resulting in 33 deaths and 11 injuries. Today, the Tourism Bureau cited Articles 36 and 38 of the Consumer Protection Act, which state that tourism products causing harm to consumers' lives, bodies, or property, and has ordered Butterfly Lovers to cease operations. The agency must complete improvements before it can reapply to the Tourism Bureau for reinstatement.

Regarding the administrative penalty imposed on Butterfly Lovers Travel Agency, the Tourism Bureau stated that today (the 14th), it issued Letter No. Guanye 1063001101 to the company, ordering it to suspend its travel business operations in accordance with Articles 36 and 38 of the Consumer Protection Act, and requesting that the following matters be improved before reapplying to this bureau for reinstatement:
(1) Properly handle post-incident matters such as medical treatment for the injured, compensation for the deceased, and insurance claims.
(2) Develop improvement and response plans regarding the company’s operational methods, itinerary planning, and risk management.
(3) Submit a report to this bureau detailing the incident and the handling process.
