North-Taipei to Hualien and Central-Taipei to Hualien routes remain uninterrupted — Uni Air and Mandarin Airlines take over from Feb. 16 with discounted tickets

The Civil Aeronautics Administration announced today that the Taipei–Hualien and Taichung–Hualien routes will be operated by Uni Air and Mandarin Airlines respectively starting Feb. 16. To celebrate the official handover of the two routes, the airlines are offering promotional fares starting at 55% and 50% off, with the lowest ticket price for Taipei–Hualien at NT$818 and Taichung–Hualien at NT$968. The public is encouraged to take advantage of these offers.

After TransAsia Airways abruptly announced its suspension of flights last year, there were concerns that the North-Taipei to Hualien and Central-Taipei to Hualien routes might be discontinued. Following intervention by the Executive Yuan, Mandarin Airlines was temporarily assigned to operate the routes until Feb. 15 this year.

The Civil Aeronautics Administration stated that to ensure the sustainable operation of the two routes, and in coordination with cross-strait air rights allocation, Uni Air and Mandarin Airlines will take over the operations starting Feb. 16. The Taipei–Hualien route will be served by Uni Air using 70-seat ATR aircraft, operating two flights daily, while the Taichung–Hualien route will be served by Mandarin Airlines using 104-seat ERJ190 aircraft, operating three flights per week (Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays), continuing to provide convenient air services for travelers going to and from Hualien.

In addition to offering special online limited-time promotional fares of NT$818 and NT$968 for Taipei–Hualien and Taichung–Hualien flights respectively, both Uni Air and Mandarin Airlines have also launched travel promotion packages for Hualien area tours.
