Now is the perfect time to visit Japan!Since April 1, Japan has raised its consumption tax to 8%, leading to price increases in food, clothing, housing, and transportation. To minimize the impact on tourism, the Japanese government has introduced a new tax exemption policy. In addition to previously exempt items like electronics and clothing,tax-free categories have been expanded for foreign tourists to include food, beverages, medicine, cosmetics, and more. As long as purchases total 5,000 yen or more, they are eligible for tax exemption, with the policy set to officially take effect on October 1.This is definitely great news for Taiwanese tourists who love shopping in Japan.

New tax exemption conditions:
1. Consumable goods such as food, beverages, medicine, cosmetics, tobacco, and Japanese sake.
2. Individuals can receive a refund if their daily purchases at the same store amount to between 5,000 yen and 500,000 yen.
3. Sign a declaration agreeing to take the purchased goods out of Japan within 30 days.
4. Tax-free goods cannot be opened.
*The previous tax refund policy remains unchanged: individuals can still receive a refund for daily purchases of 10,000 yen or more at the same store.
