Besides its hot springs, Guan-Zi-Ling is also known for a unique natural phenomenon — the Water-Fire Spring, also called the Water-Fire Cave.This site features the rare natural occurrence of water and fire coexisting. It was first documented in the 1714 Chronicles of Zhuluo County during the Qing Kangxi era, making this year its 300th anniversary. The surrounding Guan-Zi-Ling Scenic Area has long been famed for its beautiful scenery and has enjoyed national renown since the Japanese colonial period. In the past, Tainan County also adopted it as a symbolic emblem, representing harmony between water and fire. As this year marks the 300th anniversary of its discovery, it holds special commemorative significance. Therefore, the Tainan City Tourism Bureau has specially organized the “2014 Tainan Guan-Zi-Ling Hot Springs Festival and 300th Anniversary of Water-Fire Spring Series of Events,” aiming to introduce visitors to the rich 300-year history and culture of Guan-Zi-Ling, the hot spring town.
