The highly anticipated Taroko Gorge Marathon is set to take place on December 13, in addition to continuing the full marathon and half marathon events from previous years, this year also sees the return of the 5-kilometer mini marathon, offering a total of 15,000 spots. The event will use an online registration system with computerized lottery draws. Registration opens from November 1 to 3, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. We welcome runners from all walks of life to visit the eastern shores of the Pacific Ocean and join Asia’s most spectacular sporting celebration, immersing themselves in the breathtaking beauty of the Taroko Gorge.

The Taroko Gorge Marathon is the world’s only “gorge” marathon and is considered a classic course by many running enthusiasts.Since its inception in 2000, it has drawn many local and international runners, setting records for “instant sell-outs” and unprecedented enthusiasm. Spots filled up immediately upon opening, leading to an early closure of registration. Each year, the event continues to break records in terms of participant numbers, nationalities, and race performances.

This year’s marathon will take place from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., with the route starting from the Asian Cement Phoenix Forest section of Highway No. 8 to the Tianxiang section of Taroko National Park. Categories include a full marathon of 42.195 kilometers (4,000 spots, registration fee NT$800), a half marathon of 21.0975 kilometers (8,000 spots, registration fee NT$700), and a mini marathon of 5 kilometers (3,000 spots, registration fee NT$500). Online registration begins on November 1.
