The “Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants,” selected by UK-based William Reed Business Media, announced its 2017 list on February 21. André Chiang, already listed among the World’s 50 Best Chefs, saw his Singapore restaurant Restaurant ANDRE ranked No. 2 (moving up one spot from last year), also winning the title of Singapore’s Best Restaurant. Taiwan’s RAW climbed from No. 46 to No. 24 and was awarded Taiwan’s Best Restaurant. Another of Chiang’s Singapore restaurants, Burnt Ends, also achieved an impressive ranking at No. 10.

Restaurant ANDRE
Restaurant ANDRE is a restaurant opened by André Chiang in Singapore in 2010. The exterior is a century-old colonial building with just 30 seats inside, and it has been recommended by The New York Times as one of “the world’s 10 most worthwhile restaurants to fly to.” At Restaurant ANDRE, Chef André Chiang infuses every dish with his unique “Octaphilosophy.”

RAW

Burnt Ends
This is a barbecue restaurant in Singapore, jointly invested in by André Chiang, Lu Liping, and Mavis Oei. All dishes are cooked using charcoal, and the bold move of not using electric stoves or gas made the restaurant a hot topic and an instant hit after its opening in Singapore.
