Madagascar actually hides a bizarre landscape reminiscent of Pandora from the movie Avatar！ The Avenue of the Baobabs in western Madagascar stretches from Belo-sur-Tsiribihina all the way to Morondava in the south. It is one of Madagascar's most popular attractions, drawing tens of thousands of foreign visitors each year who are captivated by its stunning scenery and the surreal hues of the sunset.

These 800-year-old baobab trees are up to eight meters wide,and thirty meters tall, making them some of the most majestic trees in Madagascar. According to local folklore, the peculiar shape of the baobab's root-like crown has a story behind it. In ancient times, the baobab angered the gods, who punished it by uprooting it and planting it upside down, thus creating its iconic upside-down appearance.

There are eight species of baobab trees in the world, six of which are endemic to Madagascar and can only be found there. The other two are endemic to Australia and Africa.

Madagascar is home to various types of baobab trees. For example, two massive baobabs twisted together are called the "Lover’s Baobab" by locals. It is believed that if couples rest under these centuries-old trees, they will be blessed with lasting good fortune.
