Recently, an artistic installation resembling a bus stop appeared at the Wutie Akihabara Plaza in front of Taipei Main Station. This scene was instantly recognized by many Hayao Miyazaki fans as the iconic Totoro bus stop from his animated films. The green foliage background paired with the torii-style bus stop sign instantly transports people into the world of animation, making it both eye-catching and fun.

The Totoro bus stop installation was primarily set up as a promotional campaign ahead of the opening of Taiwan’s first-ever specialty store for Hayao Miyazaki animation merchandise. The real Totoro will also visit the Taipei Main Station bus stop to take photos with the public. The highly anticipated Studio Ghibli flagship store, beloved by fans in Japan and Hong Kong, is expected to open before summer at ATT4FUN in Taipei’s Xinyi District.
