The Japanese never run out of wild creativity. Recently, a lab-themed bar named INCUBATOR (インキュベーター) opened in Japan. The interior design is truly that of a real laboratory. Once you enter this bar in Tokyo, you’ll feel like you’ve stepped into a lab. Before entering, guests must put on white lab coats, which instantly gives them the feeling of about to conduct an experiment. All kinds of lab equipment can be found everywhere — for example, litmus paper is freely available on the table as soon as you sit down, alcoholic drinks are served in test tubes, and snacks are placed in lab containers. The oddly juxtaposed scenes are especially fun to experience.

INCUBATOR’s full-on lab style comes from the fact that the owner is originally a former biology researcher. At first, he just wanted to create a place where researchers could gather and interact, which is why he opened this bar. Guests entering INCUBATOR must change into lab coats, instantly feeling like they’re about to start an experiment. Lab-related tools are everywhere — for instance, pH test paper is readily available on the table once you’re seated, alcoholic beverages are served in test tubes, and bar snacks are placed in laboratory containers, creating a uniquely surreal and amusing atmosphere.
