The Seda Larung Gar Five Sciences Buddhist Academy in Sichuan Province is one such place. Stretching across several kilometers of hillsides, the small red wooden cabins stand out vividly against the blue sky—a symbol of faith. Each tiny house serves as a dormitory for thousands of practitioners. Temples and shrines are scattered throughout, with devotees and monks coming and going to worship. The air is filled with an unmistakable sense of devout spirituality.

The Seda Larung Gar Five Sciences Buddhist Academy was founded in 1980 with just over 30 people. Within a few years, it rapidly expanded, and now it is home to more than 5,000 resident monks, nuns, and practitioners. An increasing number of devotees have come to live here, and the houses have gradually spread across the mountainsides, making it the largest Tibetan Buddhist academy in the world.
