As of August 26 this year, the number of dengue fever cases in Tainan City totaled 2,381, with 4 deaths reported cumulatively. In addition, 5 confirmed dengue fever cases in New Taipei City and 1 in Keelung City all involved individuals who had traveled to Tainan.

According to related reports, since the outbreak of dengue fever, the willingness of travelers to visit Tainan has been affected. Some hotels in Tainan City have seen a wave of cancellations, and many have received inquiry calls. Considering the epidemic, some guests have even opted to cancel their stays, impacting Tainan’s tourism industry.

Dengue fever is primarily prevalent in regions south of the Tropic of Cancer, with Southeast Asia also being a major epidemic area. It is transmitted through the bites of Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes. The most commonly observed symptoms are still fever, though some gastrointestinal symptoms have also been reported. The fatality rate of dengue fever is only around 2% to 3%.
