● Admire chrysanthemums in Tongluo
Miaoli is not only famous for its tung blossom “May Snow,” but also offers colorful fields of chrysanthemum flowers in Tongluo Township every November and December. The hillsides are covered with snow-white floral blankets, creating an especially romantic scene.

● Soak in hot springs
As autumn sets in and the weather turns cooler, hot spring spots across Taiwan begin to draw more visitors. There are many places to enjoy hot springs in Taiwan—from Beitou, Yangmingshan, and Shamao Mountain in Taipei, to Guanziling, Guguan, and Baolai in central and southern Taiwan. This fall and winter, why not plan a 2-day, 1-night hot spring trip to experience Taiwan’s wonderful baths and cuisine, and warm up relationships with family and friends?

● Appreciate autumn foliage
The turning reds of maple leaves are one of autumn’s most iconic colors. Walking through a tunnel of crimson maple trees is simply romantic. While many Taiwanese travelers love going to Japan to see the foliage, there are also plenty of great spots in Taiwan—such as Aowanda in Taipei, Gongbei Temple in Xizhi, Smangus, and Aowanda—that are hugely popular for leaf-peeping.
