Global landmarks light up in red, white and blue to show solidarity with Paris

France's Paris was hit by the worst terrorist attacks since World War II, shocking the world. President Hollande not only declared three days of national mourning but also announced the Eiffel Tower, a famous landmark in Paris, would be darkened and closed indefinitely. Landmarks around the world including Taipei 101 and the Sydney Opera House were lit up in the blue, white and red colors of the French flag to express grief and support.

On the evening of November 13, local time, a series of terrorist attacks occurred in at least six locations in Paris, France, including seven shootings, six explosions and one hostage situation, resulting in hundreds of casualties. French President Hollande urgently declared a national state of emergency, closed the country’s borders and stated that these were unprecedented terrorist attacks in France.
