Complete Guide to Transportation for Taiwan’s Longest Mountain-River Glass Suspension Bridge

Southern Taiwan’s most anticipated new attraction, the “Mountain-River Glass Suspension Bridge,” officially began its trial operation on December 26. The Pingtung County Tourism Bureau announced that from theopening day (26th) at 2 PM until February 29, 2016, visitors can experience the bridge free of chargeand are reminded that access to the bridge is one-way and single-entry only. The entrance direction may vary depending on the month, so please pay special attention.

The Mountain-River Glass Suspension Bridge is 262 meters long and stands an average of 45 meters above the riverbed. Located downstream from the old suspension bridge, it connects Sandimen Township’s Sandi Village with Maolin Township’s Beiyeh Village, linking the Linali Permanent Residences, the Indigenous Cultural Park, and the Sandimen Art Village. It is the longest hammock-style suspension bridge in Taiwan.

Mountain-River Glass Suspension Bridge Opening Information
Trial Operation Period:  December 26, 2015 (from 14:00) – February 29, 2016; free admission during this period.  
(Note: The bridge will be closed to traffic on February 7, 2016, Chinese New Year's Eve.  )
Opening Hours:
Weekdays (Monday–Friday): 09:00 – 16:00 / Holidays (including consecutive holidays and national holidays): 09:00 – 17:00
※ Only 100 visitors are allowed on the bridge at a time.  
※ 400 numbered tickets are issued per hour, starting 30 minutes before opening.  

● The bridge is one-way and single-entry only
During odd-numbered months, entry is from the Sandimen end; during even-numbered months, from the Maolin end. During the trial operation, in December and February, entry is from the Maolin end and exit from the Sandimen end; in January, entry is from the Sandimen end and exit from the Maolin end.
● Shuttle Bus Information
The Mountain-River Glass Suspension Bridge offers shuttle buses between Sandimen Township Office and the Indigenous Cultural Park. Services began at 1 PM on December 26. During the trial operation, the fare is NT$10 per person, with children aged 6 and under riding free. After the official launch, fares will follow standard city bus pricing.
Bus Schedule:
On weekdays from 09:00 to 16:00, one bus per hour; on holidays from 09:00 to 17:00, one bus every 15 minutes. The first bus departs at 08:10, with additional services added based on visitor numbers.  
Direction of Travel:  
From Sandimen end to Maolin end (southbound):  Sandimen Township Office → Neipu Agricultural and Industrial School Side Gate → Neipu Agricultural and Industrial School Main Gate (new) → Shuimen Night Market Stop → Beiyeh Activity Center → Indigenous Cultural Park
From Maolin end to Sandimen end (northbound):  Indigenous Cultural Park → Beiyeh Activity Center → Shuimen Night Market Stop → Neipu Agricultural and Industrial School Main Gate (new) → Neipu Agricultural and Industrial School Side Gate → Fugu Bay → Sandimen Civic Service Association → Sandimen Township Office

● Group Bookings
Group bookings for weekdays during the experience period are now being accepted (holidays not included)  ; each group must consist of 10 to 50 people, with no more than 50 people per session.To make a reservation, please call the dedicated booking hotline at 08-7323180 or 08-7325032 during weekday office hours: 08:00–12:00 and 13:30–17:30.  
※ Group bookings must be registered in advance; same-day bookings are not accepted.  
※ Groups that have made reservations must check in at the registration desk 15 minutes before their scheduled visit time.  
※ Group leaders must carry identification documents for verification. In cases where identification cannot be verified, the reservation will be canceled, and entry will be subject to on-site number collection.

【High-Speed Rail】
After arriving at the High-Speed Rail Zuoying Station, please transfer to Taiwan Railways to Pingtung Station, then proceed to the Pingtung Bus Terminal located at the front-left side of the station to take the bus.
【Pingtung Bus】
Please board at the Pingtung Bus Terminal next to Pingtung Railway Station (Pingtung Bus inquiry phone: 08-7324103).
(1) Route 508: Departs from Pingtung Railway Station, passing through Liudui Cultural Park and National Pingtung University of Science and Technology, and terminating at the Indigenous Peoples Cultural Park. First departure at 8:00 AM.
(2) Route 8227: Departs from Pingtung Railway Station, passing through Neipu Vocational High School and its side entrance, and terminating at Sandimen Township Office. First departure at 7:10 AM.
(3) Route 8228: Departs from Pingtung Railway Station, passing through Neipu Vocational High School and its side entrance, and terminating at Sandimen Township Office. First departure at 6:00 AM.
(4) Route 8229: Departs from Pingtung Railway Station, passing through the side entrance of Neipu Vocational High School, and terminating at Sandimen Township Office. First departure at 6:30 AM.
