In recent years, camping has become a popular trend in Taiwan, emerging as one of the most favored leisure travel activities. The Hualien County Government recently announced that during the 2016 Chinese New Year holiday, 18 campuses across the county will be opened up as camping sites, allowing people to enjoy outdoor life while also discovering the beauty of Hualien.

The following campuses will be open for camping during the Chinese New Year holiday: Along the mountain route (Provincial Highways 8, 9, 9A, and 30), including Xiulin Township’s Xibao Elementary School, Xiulin Township’s Heping Elementary School, Xiulin Township’s Chongde Elementary School, Xiulin Township’s Jiamin Elementary School, Hualien City’s Hualienkang Junior High School, Xiulin Township’s Wenlan Elementary School, Xiulin Township’s Tonglan Elementary School, Wanrong Township’s Jianqing Elementary School, Ruisui Township’s Ruisui Junior High School, Zhuoxi Township’s Taiping Elementary School, Zhuoxi Township’s Shan Elementary School, Yuli Town’s Yuli Junior High School, Yuli Town’s Lehe Elementary School, Zhuoxi Township’s Zhuoxi Elementary School, and Fuli Township’s Fuli Elementary School; Along the coastal route (Provincial Highway 11), including Shoufeng Township’s Shuilian Elementary School, Fengbin Township’s Fengbin Elementary School, and Fengbin Township’s Gangkou Elementary School — a total of 18 school venues will be available for camping.※ Among the above 18 school venues, four schools — Xiulin Township’s Tonglan Elementary School, Fengbin Township’s Fengbin Elementary School, Yuli Town’s Lehe Elementary School, and Zhuoxi Township’s Zhuoxi Elementary School — will not charge any fees. The other 14 schools will collect a cleaning fee and venue usage fee.

Additionally, the Hualien County Government Education Bureau reminds visitors to take care of public property during their stay, strictly adhering to rules such as no open-fire cooking, no unauthorized power connections, no littering, and no loud noise. Before leaving, please clean up the area and take all trash with you to help maintain the cleanliness and tranquility of the campuses.
